Shining a Light on Noncompete, Medical Malpractice Issues

In a joint hearing of the House Health and Professional Licensure Committees, I had the opportunity to speak about noncompete issues and how contracts affect patients, families, and entire communities. While hospitals undoubtedly have financial interests, patient care must be the highest priority. Anything less is not acceptable. We need to find a better way forward to address noncompete and medical malpractice issues

Klunk Initiative to Protect Victims of Sexual Assault, Harassment Passes the House

I offered an amendment to protect victims of sexual harassment and assault from their name being disclosed in a settlement agreement with a public entity during the Right to Know process. Under current state law, a victim’s name must be disclosed unless it is explicitly prohibited via a court order. Disclosing a victim’s name through the Right to Know process jeopardizes their safety and their privacy; this is absolutely unacceptable. I am encouraged by the unanimous support my initiative received from both sides of the aisle, and I hope the measure advances swiftly to the governor’s desk for signature into law.

Klunk Reacts to 2024-45 Budget Proposal

The governor shared an astronomical $48.34 billion proposal for fiscal year 2024-25, a proposal that would lead to Personal Income tax increases in the next four years. We need to be good stewards of taxpayer dollars and work toward crafting a balanced budget that funds the core functions of government without spending beyond our means.

Pursuing Covid Fraud

Today, the House passed a bill that would create a Special State Prosecutor under the jurisdiction of the Office of Inspector General. This individual would be tasked with rooting out and prosecuting individuals who used the COVID-19 pandemic to commit Unemployment Compensation fraud.
