Klunk Announces $700,000 Grant for High Street Reconstruction in Hanover Borough
January 21, 2026
HARRISBURG – State Rep. Kate Klunk (R-Hanover) today announced Hanover Borough has been awarded a $700,000 grant from Pennsylvania’s Multimodal Transportation Fund to support the High Street Reconstruction Project. This critical investment will improve a high-traffic corridor that serves local manufacturing companies, retail and service businesses, and residents in York and Adams counties.
The project is part of a broader initiative to rehabilitate key transportation routes, ensuring safer and more efficient travel for businesses and the community. It follows previous collaborative efforts to secure funding for the traffic light installation at Kindig Lane, another vital improvement for the region.
Klunk praised the teamwork that made this grant possible, giving special recognition to Sen. Kristin Phillips-Hill (R-York County) and Rep. Dan Moul (R-Adams) for their advocacy and support.
"This grant is a major win for Hanover Borough and the surrounding region," said Klunk. "By investing in infrastructure, we’re strengthening our local economy, improving safety, and supporting the manufacturers, local businesses, and families who rely on these roads every day. I’m grateful to Sen. Phillips-Hill and Rep. Moul for working alongside me to make this happen for our greater Hanover-area community."’
“Hanover Borough has been working diligently with our local elected officials and our neighboring municipalities to bring this project to fruition,” said AJ Grimm, Public Works Director for Hanover Borough. “The award of this grant allows the borough to begin the phasing of the reconstruction of High Street from Maple Avenue to Eisenhower Drive. This stretch of High Street, which crosses Hanover Borough, Penn Township and Conewago Township is a crucial connector route for our residents and businesses that has been long in need of repair. The total cost of the project is expected to be approximately $1.6 million and is planned to include new ADA ramps for pedestrian crossings. The borough expects to complete the project in phases as more funding is secured, with planning to begin in the second quarter of this year.”
The High Street Reconstruction Project will enhance accessibility, reduce congestion and improve the overall quality of transportation infrastructure in one of the area’s busiest corridors.
