HARRISBURG – A $908,877 grant has been awarded to Southern York County School District for a roof replacement at its middle school in Shrewsbury Township, according to Rep. Kate Klunk (R-Hanover). Knowing the impact a new roof would have on students, faculty, staff, taxpayers and the building itself, Klunk was proud to advocate for the funds.

“Our school districts do their best to maintain their facilities, but cost is often prohibitive to completing necessary projects,” said Klunk. “I was proud to help bring these dollars to the 169th District to improve the longevity of a local school, conserve taxpayer dollars, and make learning safer and more comfortable for all who use the building.”

These dollars were awarded as part of the state’s Public School Facility Improvement Grant (PSFIG) program and will be used to replace 40,000 sq. ft. of roof areas that are over 24 years old. PSFIG funds will help cover the cost of engineering and renovation.

The total project will cost just over $1.2 million. In addition to this grant award, Southern York County School District will provide just over $300,000 in matching funds.

For questions about this grant funding, please call Klunk’s office at 717-630-8942.
