HARRISBURG—Rep. Kate Klunk (R-Hanover) invites constituents of the 169th District to participate in her upcoming Property Tax/Rent Rebate (PTRR) Assistance events. Citing the program’s historic expansion, Klunk is offering additional opportunities to receive aid from her office, which can help constituents process their applications at no cost.
“In 2023, the governor signed into law a bipartisan initiative to expand the popular PTRR program, making an estimated 150,000 additional Pennsylvanians eligible,” said Klunk. “For years my office has been helping constituents process their applications and we’ve formed great relationships with many of the seniors who utilize the program. We are happy to continue offering this important service and are looking forward to these additional in-person events to assist with the increased demand for appointments.”
The PTRR assistance events will be held Tuesday, Feb. 27, from noon to 3 p.m. at Guthrie Memorial Library, located at 2 Library Place in Hanover; and Tuesday, March 5, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the New Freedom Borough office council chambers, located at 49 E. High St. in New Freedom.
The rebate program benefits eligible residents 65 years and older; widows and widowers 50 years and older; and people with disabilities 18 years and older. Paid, stamped property taxes from 2023, or a renter’s certificate signed by the landlord are required to complete the application.
The program expansion is effective for property taxes and rent paid in 2023 with income limits increased to $45,000; all income sources are considered except half of an individual’s Social Security income, which is excluded. The maximum amount each homeowner or renter can receive has also been increased from $650 to $1,000.
Klunk concluded her remarks by stating she was proud to support a program that helps make Pennsylvania a more affordable place to live, especially during a time when our seniors are dealing with an increased cost of living.
Appointments are required for these events. Please call Klunk’s office at 717-630-8942 to reserve a timeslot. Klunk’s staff will also advise what documentation is needed for first-time filers.
