Klunk, Alloway to Host Military and Veterans Appreciation Day
April 6, 2017
HARRISBURG – As a way to connect with active members of the armed services and veterans who valiantly served our country, Rep. Kate Klunk (R-Hanover) and Sen. Richard Alloway, II (R-33) will hold a Military and Veterans Appreciation Day at the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Aerie #1406, located at 105 Park St. in Hanover, on Saturday, April 29, from 9 a.m. to noon.
Family members of veterans and members of the military are also invited to attend.
“We owe veterans and active members of the armed forces a debt of gratitude. I strongly encourage those who reside in the 169th House District and the 33rd Senate District to attend this event,” Klunk said. “This event also allows veterans and those currently enlisted to get together in fellowship.”
The event will feature a patriotic opening ceremony, followed by a fun-filled morning of food, activities for the whole family and valuable information for veterans. It will also feature exhibitors from local agencies and organizations that have services tailored to help veterans and military members.
“This event serves as a way to say ‘thank you’ to all those who proudly wore our nation’s uniform,” Alloway said. “Veterans and active members of the military can learn about the many services and programs available to them. At the same time, younger generations can learn about the extraordinary sacrifices made by those who proudly served our great nation.”
The Pennsylvania Department of Military and Veterans Affairs Mobile Veterans Center, a state-of-the-art traveling office, will have personnel on hand to answer questions about programs and benefits.
Veterans, active duty military personnel and their families are asked to register in advance to attend this event to ensure adequate food preparation and “Thank You” packets. To register, visit RepKlunk.com and click on the “Military and Veterans Appreciation Day” tab, or call Klunk’s office at (717) 630-8942.
The deadline to register is Friday, April 21.
